Church leaders are called to the difficult ministry of pastoring both immature Christians and mature Christians. You don't give a baby a steak just as you don't give formula to an adult. The challenge is to move those babies towards maturity without choking them while encouraging the mature to continue to grow. A very tall order indeed.

BTW someone once said that as a child you honor your parents by obeying them; as an adult you honor your parents by obeying God.

Sorry, no original idea suggestions for your first book.

Hi Jen. I was just talking about parent-child relationships today. How apropos.

One of moments of my entry into christian adulthood was when my mother told me to ignore the confusing things my pastor told me about my work habits because "sometimes preachers don't know when to stop."

I'm beginning to wish we could form more cosmopolitan churches... you know? be okay with folks who aren't married, or work nights, or are from other countries? Came to Christ late in life, were divorced or hurt, or might actually disagree with our culture, but are interested in our Christ. The language we use from the front of the room comes across surprisingly narrow at times, and maybe the parent-child thing is part of the tone that bugs me so often.

jen are you ever gonna write a book?
