Question of the Day

Why do churches think it makes a service seem cool or hip to start it at 6:07 instead of 6:00?

  1. my only comment is that I like scheduling things at weird times because people remember the time better (in my experience), but I don’t think I’d be encouraging my church service to start at an “off” time….

  2. Thanks Jen for pointing this out!!! It’s one of my biggest pet peeves. The first time some “innovative” church did this it was kind of cute, now it’s just old and irritating. Unless the time has something to do with something, like meeting at 2:42 (for Acts 2:42, for example), it just looks silly to me, like the guys who were wearing the Cat in the Hat hats three years after it was cool.

I guess folks think they are “edgy” and “cool” if they have a weird start time (as opposed to churches that claim to start at 11 but don’t really get going till 11:08 or so…)

  3. I think it’s silly.
However, our church had a 5:13 Sat. service for awhile. Everyone went nuts trying to figure out the significance, including myself – surely it had to be a scripture reference…. no. It was our area code. LOL
